Our newest addition to the tank, a mature Chocolate Tang (Acanthurus pyroferus) has finally been named! You submitted names and voted amongst the best submissions, and it’s name is now Gianmarco!

Not only was today the last of finals, it was also a very successful last day of Care Package pickups! Swipe through to see how we refined and changed the Care Packages throughout this year!

After some very valuable feedback from one of our students, we used this quarter to make the Care Packages align with our values around ecosystem and environmental science. We have reduced packaging by ordering bulk items, offered a more sustainable face mask that primarily uses natural and biodegradable ingredients, and including tools to aid in reducing waste and pollution from day to day.

You likely will still see some items from previous care packages in giveaways or as extras in future care packages, but we will try to stay consistent with more eco-friendly and recyclable choices for packages in the future.

If you missed it, here’s some photos from Phoenix Biology’s Sciencepalooza - a Jeopardy style competition between a small panel of UChicago faculty and some student volunteers.
