In 1st Grade, students celebrated Dot Day! They read The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds and created their own dot-inspired artwork. They also practiced graphing with Dot candy and conducted a science experiment using drops of water on pennies. It turns out that as many as 80–100 drops of water can fit on a penny without spilling over. What a fun and creative way of learning! Our students are unleashing their potential every day! 🐾

⭐Kindergarten is off to a great start! They are learning new sight words, print concepts, and writing skills, while building their math skills by counting objects from 1–5. In Religion, our students are discovering the gift of light from God through a fun flashlight activity. And the learning doesn’t stop there! Gym, Spanish, Music, Art and STEM classes are all underway, giving them opportunities to discover new interests.

🐾Last week, our students earned an incredible 128 Viking Virtue Vouchers for demonstrating virtuous behavior and making positive choices throughout the school day. Congratulations to Kindergarten student Elias-Viking Virtue Voucher Winner of the Week! Elias earned his voucher for demonstrating kindness, and he chose a very special reward: lunch with Dr. Berry and a friend!

🐾Top Dog Readers Breakfast! 🐾We’re starting the school year with a celebration of some of our outstanding readers! Students who read books over the summer and submitted a post card to Dr. Berry were invited to a special Top Dog Breakfast to kick off the new school year. We’re proud of these students for unleashing their potential, making time for reading, and starting the year on a paws-itively great note!

🇺🇸Ms. Vawter recently took 3 of our 6th graders outside to teach them the proper way to raise & care for the American flag. This is more than simply raising a flag~it is a serious responsibility & an important lesson in respect, honor, and patriotism.
For the first time, our students also had the opportunity to learn how to properly raise the flag to half-staff, honoring the life and legacy of Dolly Parton.
