We will be teaching an unarmed stage combat workshop with TUTA! We will be covering the kind of fighting that we see most often in plays: untrained, unarmed assault. This sort of violence includes such scenarios as domestic violence, brawling, and real world street assault. We will be teaching the fundamental principles that will allow us to keep ourselves and our stage partners safe while portraying visceral, unhinged violence effectively on stage. We will also talk about character intentions, plans, and goals, how they shift throughout the fight, and how they are essential not only for acting the fight but also for learning the choreography.

Heyo! R&D is planning a class or classes for the summer! Are you interested? What would you like to study? Swashbuckling? Historical combat of some sort (what sort?!?) Unarmed? A variety of "intro to X" with a different thing each class? Would Monday nights be better, or Saturday mornings or afternoons?
On the Red Line or Brown Line better?
Interest in a workshop on violence design, as well as or instead of on some aspect of stage combat?

I cannot believe that I still hear some folks say that historical combat does not work in performance. Folks who say that should just get out of the way of the folks who make it work. Adorea is always a joy to watch.
