🌱 Young actors grow the most when they have regular opportunities to practice their work on camera

🎬 This lab gives kids and teens consistent experience working with TV, film, and commercial material. In each session, actors rehearse scenes, work on camera, and receive coaching similar to professional auditions and callbacks

💪 Students will practice making strong choices, taking direction, and building confidence in front of the camera. Scenes and scripts are selected with each actor’s individual goals in mind

This lab is open to former Green Room students or actors with a similar level of experience. New students with prior training are welcome to email us to request admission and share their experience

Some auditions ask young actors to portray illness, injury, or moments of crisis—scenes with high emotional stakes that can feel intimidating without the right tools
In this workshop, students will learn practical, age-appropriate techniques for approaching challenging material with authenticity while staying grounded and supported

Led by Courtney Rioux (Chicago Med) and Anne Acker, the session combines professional insight with thoughtful coaching designed for young performers.
Parents are invited to a brief Q&A at the start of class to learn how to best support their child when preparing emotionally demanding material. Families will also receive video of their child’s work, along with a summary of the material covered and tips for continued growth.

Commercial auditions have undergone a dramatic transformation in recent years. Once dominated by in-person sessions, the rise of self-taping has reshaped the audition process. Today, young actors must not only bring confidence, skill, and enthusiasm to the audition room and commercial set but also deliver standout performances from home—without the real-time guidance of a casting director.

In this one-day commercial audition workshop, Virginia Anello and Jessica Lyons from O’Connor Casting will draw on their extensive experience and passion for nurturing young talent. Through mock auditions, they’ll help participants sharpen their skills and approach every audition—whether in-person or self-taped—with confidence, creativity, and joy.

Parents are also invited to take part in a short Q&A session at the start of class. Each family will receive videos of their child’s work, along with a summary of the material covered and tips for continued growth.

Voiceover acting offers young performers an exciting way to bring stories to life. Without costumes, sets, or cameras, kids must rely on their voices to create characters, convey emotion, and spark imagination.

In this two-hour workshop, actor and voiceover talent Courtney Rioux will guide students through vocal technique, character-building, script interpretation, and mic etiquette. With Courtney’s warm teaching style and deep industry knowledge, young actors will gain practical tools they can use in auditions, performances, and at home.

Parents are invited to take part in a short Q&A at the start of class. Each family will receive audio recordings of their child’s work, along with a summary of the material covered and tips for continued growth.

WHAT IS IT: A one-hour introduction to our on-camera classes for kids and teens

In one hour, your kids will learn enough about an on-camera audition to change the way they audition forever, all while having fun with their peers. Parents say they learn too, and they especially enjoy the online video vault where they can see their child's progress.

Only new students, please!

This class is IN-PERSON at our West Town studio space.

Introductory classes run throughout the day on Saturday, January 3rd, and are divided by age range:

5-7 years - 10-11am
8-12 years - 11:30am-12:30pm
13-17 years - 1-2pm

$15 for the hour, which can also be applied to the tuition for a future class at the Green Room
