Empowering our singers to make friendships that cross neighborhood lines is a core part of what we do. ❤️

And no better example of that than our Community Concert that brought together the Austin and Humboldt Park Neighborhood Choir Programs with our citywide ensemble for changing voices, Dimension! Relive that magical night with these photos.

As draws to a close, we’re sharing a song from the island nation of Fiji, an archipelago in the South Pacific of over 300 islands. 🇫🇯

Singers from the Beverly, Englewood and Lincoln Park/DePaul Neighborhood Choir Programs performed it while on the Bridging America Tour in Denver at a sold out collaborative concert.

“Luvuci Au” is a song of heartbreak whose title translates to “I am touched by grief.” It was originally performed in Fijian by Vatulawa Trio as part of the UNESCO Collection of Traditional Music.

And just like that, the Bridging America Tour 2026 is over!

Our final tour stop in Denver truly hit new heights! Singers from the Beverly, Englewood and Lincoln Park/DePaul Neighborhood Choir Programs formed friendships within our programs and with other choirs, and made many other lifelong memories, including:
🏔️ lunch at Denver’s Union Station
🎶 an afternoon of shopping and dining in the RiNo Arts District
🏔️ a connection with Denver East High School, bonding through learning a gospel song in parts
🎶 a standing ovation at our collaborative concert with Denver Children’s Chorus and Denver Choir League
🏔️ a workshop with powerhouse South African singer Nomvula Minelli
🎶 an immersive exploration of MeowWolf Convergence Station
🏔️ attending the Spirituals Project Spring Concert, where the singers got to see the premiere of a new commision by their conductor Mr. .norwood

The Alabama/Mississippi stop of the Bridging America Tour was a trip full of new connections and history lessons!

Singers from our Austin and Humboldt Park Neighborhood Choirs, along with Dimension, did a deep dive on the Civil Rights Movement as they visited many important locations, including:
- the historic 16th St. Baptist Church and Kelly Ingram Park in Birmingham, AL
- Homewood, AL, where new friendships blossomed between our singer and three local ensembles
- the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum in Jackson, MS
- Northside Baptist Church, where we sang “People Get Ready” with Northwest Rankin High School
- the Rosa Parks Museum in Montgomery, AL
- the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, AL, where our students sang “Ain’t Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Round” while following in the path of many marches before them
