Hi everyone. Long post incoming, please read the caption.

First, please know that we are not going anywhere. We are going through with our drag show. We are continuing as an organization. And we will be louder moving forward. We are here to stay.

Now into the main part of the post. It's come to our attention that at least some of our posts have been artificially suppressed by Meta. Since September of 2024, but renewed in early January of 2025, Meta has instituted policies - particularly on Instagram - that censor and suppress q***r identities, hashtags, posts, and accounts. It's an active attempt to silence q***r existence.

The initial journalist who broke the story discovered this by searching hashtags under different political and "suggestive content" sensitivity settings. When we started to suspect our posts were being suppressed, we tried this. One of our exec board members temporarily unfollowed the Prism account, strengthened their sensitivity settings, and searched one of the hashtags on the post. Our show announcement never showed up.

Now, we don't think that this one, random hashtag that we made for our drag shows is one that's uniquely targetted by the algorithm. But we have posted political content in the past that could have gotten our account reported, or it could be one of the larger hashtags on the post. Both of those are substantially more likely.

Regardless, the effect is the same. Our content, and thereby our public voice, is suppressed and censored. We don't know exactly when this started or how many posts are impacted, but it is happening.

If you have not already done so, we recommend people unsuppress these types of content on their accounts. Otherwise, voices like ours will continue to be censored. You can do this by changing your settings under the "Content Preferences" tab.

Beyond this, we want to make sure people are aware of this issue. Prism is far from the only individual or organization who has been suppressed and censored like this. Sharing when this happens and who this happens to can increase awareness of this very real problem.

This is part of an active effort to remove q***r identities from public life. And f**k that.

Hi everyone! A few things:

We apologize for our recent radio silence. We've been handling a couple internal issues, but should be back to you soon with a big announcement. In the meantime, we want to make it clear we are not going anywhere. If you'd like to get involved, please DM us on Instagram, join our Discord (link in bio), or email us at [email protected]. We're always looking for more people to get involved, especially if you'd be interested in helping out. Just know that we are very much active and you'll be hearing from us again soon.

And just remember... pride has always been a protest.
