09/26/2023

Hi friends! With October just around the corner ( WHAT?! ), we want to share a bit about the first Unwritten Retreat of the 2023-2024 school year!

Unwritten invites students to consider the story they've been writing in their life so far. Our hope is that students walk away with a better understanding of themselves, their place in the world, and the life stories they are in the process of authoring.

On retreat, students will practice journaling, reflection, and Ignatian discernment and explore topics like wisdom figures, personal strengths, and vocation. The weekend will include talks from student leaders, panels from our lovely staff members, small group time with peers, individual reflection, lots of story-themed activities, and so much fun along the way!

Cost: $50 (includes all meals, snacks, transportation, lodging, etc.)
*Financial aid is available for all our retreats.

Location: Loyola University Retreat and Ecology Center (LUREC)

Click the link in our bio for info on registration, financial aid, and more!

We’re hoping our men’s basketball team can bring as much energy and excitement to their game today as our Feb360 participants and leaders brought to retreat 🤪 But hopefully they actually play the game instead of griddy-ing across the court (but you keep going off, Anthony).

GO RAMBLERS!! 👏🏻

Community (noun): a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals

We know that one of the things most people are looking for on retreats is a sense of community, so we do our best to provide that! It’s wonderful to see so many unique communities formed off of retreats, like the amazing November 360 group we had almost two weeks ago.
Whether we’re taking a silly photo, doing a large group activity, or taking time for personal reflection, we hope that you have seen the power of coming together in community on retreat!

First years: there is ONE MORE 360 happening this academic year in February 2022. Sign ups are already live at the link our bio, so go get yourself registered before spaces fill! 🤗

One of the things we love most about retreats is our incredible student leaders who put in so much time, energy, and heart to making this experiences happen! Our Search leadership team is already starting their formation and preparation for January’s retreat, and at last night’s meeting, they reflected on what their fellow students (themselves included) are searching for at this point in their lives.

If you see yourself in one or more post-its on this board, we highly encourage you to walk with us on Search as we explore themes such as identity, obstacles, and love, and more.

If you’d like to sign up for this incredible experience, hit the link in our bio! 🌞

Why should I go on a retreat?

Retreats at Loyola University Chicago give you the opportunity to disconnect from your normal routine, explore your faith, build community, and reflect on your own personal journey. Most of our retreats are held out at our Retreat and Ecology Campus (LUREC), a 98 acre space in Woodstock, Illinois complete with woodlands, wetlands, ponds, prairies, and plenty of space to engage with nature as you go about your retreat experience.

Our core retreat program is meant to support you as you travel through your Loyola experience. As a first-year student, Loyola 360 is there to help you process your transition to college and give you opportunities to form community with your fellow students. As a second or third year student, you may want to go on Unwritten to figure out your story - who you are and who you want to become. Upperclassmen can also go on Search, where you can deepen your relationships with yourself, your friends, your family, and your faith as you dive into the deep questions of life.

But of course we offer so much more - we have Silent Retreats, Music Ministry, Women’s Retreat, Muslim Student Retreats, Senior Retreat, class retreats, Transfer Retreat, and many others. We at Loyola strive to be a home for all faiths, and therefore we strive to offer retreats for every Loyola student.

For more information & to sign-up, visit www.luc.edu/retreats. Financial aid is offered for every program that we do. To see if you qualify, email [email protected].
