The deadline to declare Pass/Fail is May 1....but what does that mean?
Students can declare pass/fail for any ungraded spring 2020 course. For this semester only, a passing (P) grade can count toward major and minor degree requirements and fulfill pre-reqs.
A P grade will not increase or decrease your GPA, an F grade will. Once pass/fail is declared it cannot be reversed. Still interested? Here are the next steps:
1. Discuss pros and cons with your academic advisor. You can look them up here: https://students.colum.edu/academic-services/advising/staff
2. Talk to your instructor about your challenges and if this might be a good idea. Maybe you already have. What would it take to earn a pass (P)?
3. Fill out the form on Columbia Central’s website by May 1: https://www.colum.edu/columbia-central/where-to-start/resource-center (it is located under “Forms”).
Remember, once the course is declared pass/fail it cannot be reversed, but this might be a good option for students with unique challenges during this stressful time. Want to chat about it? We are here for you: https://www.colum.edu/advising
Friday (tomorrow!) is the deadline to withdraw from a course. How is "withdraw" different "drop?" Find out here: https://www.colum.edu/columbia-central/on-campus/changes-to-enrollment
Columbia College Chicago : Changes to Your Enrollment If a student drops a class, withdraws from all classes, or stops attending courses, he or she may no longer be eligible for the full amount of FSA funds originally awarded.
