Lion’s Pride Mentoring seeks to change Chicago’s educational landscape by helping more students graduate from high school and cultivate economic sustainability through the power of peer mentoring.

Our approach to achieving our mission and vision involves implementing and scaling programs while focusing on three interconnected pillars: leadership development, career development, and mental well-being.

✨ New partnership alert! ✨

We’re now partnering with Pathways Illinois, Ashburn Campus, a school that redefines what student-centered learning looks like. Together, we’re helping students succeed through a model that honors both their individual needs and future aspirations.

📌 Pathways offers:

- Flexible, personalized schedules for students balancing jobs, caregiving, or other responsibilities
- One-on-one academic and emotional support from dedicated staff
- Dual enrollment opportunities to earn college credit while completing high school
- Experiential learning trips that turn the world into a classroom

Through this collaboration, students will gain access to peer mentoring, mental wellness support, and cultural learning experiences. We're excited to walk alongside students and educators in Ashburn as they shape brighter futures

Last month, we asked you to put your knowledge to the test at our annual "Are You Smarter Than a 9th Grader?" Trivia Night fundraiser — and the results are in 🥁 shoutout to our honorary 9th grade Champions for holding it down! 🧠🏆

To everyone who joined us, supported us, and helped make the evening possible: thank you. Your continued investment allows us to create safe, affirming spaces for youth to grow, lead, and thrive.

"One important takeaway from being a BIG is realizing that you don’t always have to lead—sometimes the most meaningful lessons come from your Little" - Lion's Pride Mentoring BIG ⭐

This Juneteenth, we honor not only the fight for freedom, but the right to feel joy in our bodies.

Joyful movement is a form of rest, resistance, and restoration. Whether it’s a two-step in your kitchen, a walk through the neighborhood, or a dance break with friends, moving with joy reconnects us to our ancestors, to community, and to ourselves.

Rest is our birthright and joy is a vital part of the revolution.

As we continue doing the work—mentoring, organizing, leading, and supporting—it’s easy to stay in motion and forget one simple truth: we all need soft places to land.

A quick check-in.
A shared meal.
A moment to feel seen and supported.
These small gestures can create lasting impact, especially in high-energy, high-output spaces like ours.

Here’s your reminder to pause, reach out, and build in those moments of care—for others and for yourself.

💬 How are you showing up for your people this week?

We’re thrilled to reintroduce a familiar face, meet Essi, a 2019–2020 LPM alumna and proud recent graduate of Grinnell College 🎓

Essi’s story is one of transformation, not just for herself, but for those she mentored along the way. As a high school student, Essi took a bold step by challenging herself to become a mentor, to lead, and to support her peers while still discovering her path. That leap of faith would go on to shape her journey through college and beyond.

What makes her story resonate deeply with us is the way it speaks to universal truths: the uncertainty of starting something new, the courage to push past your comfort zone, and the powerful ripple effect of mentorship.

Whether you're just beginning college, preparing to graduate, or simply reflecting on your journey, Essi’s voice reminds us that growth often begins with giving. Her story is proof that when we show up for others, we also grow into who we’re meant to become.

🎥 Stay tuned to watch her full story on our YouTube channel.

What’s better than celebrating with one Noble Charter School? Try four!

We wrapped up the year with students from multiple campuses coming together at Kingz Bowling to celebrate a year of community building, guidance, and progress – one strike at a time. 🎳

But this wasn’t just a time to decompress and celebrate —it was impact in action. Over 78 students came together in community, showing what it looks like when mentorship, school spirit, and joy collide.

To every student, mentor, and staff member who made this year meaningful, thank you. We’re proud to close the year strong and even more excited about what’s ahead.

A mini- lesson on Empathy vs Sympathy:

Empathy is feeling with someone—connecting through shared emotion. Sympathy is feeling for someone, often from a distance.

Empathy doesn’t fix—it feels. It says: “I’ve been there. You’re not alone.”
