Whew! My test prep senior class is absolutely destroying things, in the best way possible.

Just this week I found out that they got into Dartmouth (2x), Duke, and won the incredibly prestigious Jefferson Scholarship at UVa.

I am so incredibly blessed to be able to help families to realize dreams!

Congrats to my student P.C., who improved his ACT English score by 6 points, his math score by 3 points, and his reading score by 5 points since his last practice test - a jump from a 29 to a 33 overall!

I get a LOT of test prep refugees from a frustrating SAT experience. Fortunately, I have been able to help students who have found themselves struggling to break 1400 - which is a solid but unspectacular score - to get into the top 3 percent of ACT scores (34+).

Despite what you might have heard, the SAT math section is NOT a test of how well you can manipulate Desmos. I have seen far too many students put their brains on the shelves and play around with sliders on Desmos when they could be using, y'know, actual strategies to eliminate wrong answers and move on.

We're still helping students to prepare for the spring and summer testing season!

Something I've heard over and over again after a student completes an official test: there were questions on the math section that they had never seen before!

Does this mean that it's pointless to prepare for ACT math? Of course not!!

Your preparation should give you the strategies you need not just to re-do question types that you've practiced countless times, but also to decide what to do when you encounter one of those never-before-seen questions.

Should you strategize and solve?

Should you skip it altogether?

I teach my students what to do in these situations, so that their most vivid memories after the test are not the questions they couldn't solve at first glance, but the vast majority of the test that they could solve because of my proven strategies.
