You’ve been waiting all day to hear about their day. They get in the car and give you… nothing. Or an attitude. Or tears over the wrong snack.
Try leaving a little room before the questions:
• Start with “I’m happy to see you.”
• Have water and a snack ready.
• Let the ride be quiet if that’s what they need.
• Save “What did you learn?” for later.
• Keep the first few minutes at home simple, without a list of things to do.
They can love their school and still come home tired. Friends, activities, taking turns, following directions, it’s a full day for them, too.
You don’t have to get the whole story before you get out of the parking lot. 💛
