The Columbia College Chicago Archives & Special Collections, including the Black Music Research Collection, will be closed to researchers the month of August 2019 and will reopen on Tuesday September 3, 2019. This temporary closure will allow staff to improve accessibility to collections and streamline the overall research experience.

This we're celebrating Columbia's founders Mary Ann Blood and Ida Morey Riley for Women's History Month! Blood and Riley first met in 1887 while teaching at State Agricultural College at Ames, Iowa. By 1890, they had relocated to Chicago and established the Columbia School of Oratory.

Some of the first issues of Echo after it's name wsa changed in the mid-1990s for ! The publication was originally called Chicago Arts & Communication, and was first published in 1991 by Journalism Department students.
