Hilaire Lockwood, owner/founder of Hilltop Yoga and 25-year yogi, conducts teacher training programs throughout the year. The Hilltop Yoga Teacher Training Program (HYTTP) has been training teachers for more than a decade and is a Registered Yoga School (RYS) with Yoga Alliance at the 200-, 300- and 500-hour levels. HYTTP is also licensed and registered with the State of Michigan's Proprietary Sch
ool Unit. We are Michigan's only RYS 500. Our yoga school offers trainings at the 200, 300 and 500 hour levels. Students may enroll in our program to achieve 200 hours or 500 hours. We also offer a 300-hour program for those who already have 200 hours and would like to reach 500 total. Students are required to read several books and complete written homework. The 200-hour portion is a traditional, authentic and holistic teacher training and is a Yoga Alliance-approved curriculum. The program focuses on all 8 limbs of the practice including adjustments, alignment, anatomy, philosophy and basic Sanksrit vocabulary to teach an all-level Power Yoga/Vinyasa Flow Class. Also a Yoga Alliance-approved curriculum, the 300-hour program covers adjustments, alignment, anatomy and Sanskrit vocabulary for more advanced postures and sequencing. This training focuses more deeply on the philosophy of the practice with more in-depth reading and essays. When completed together to achieve 500 hours, students have a broad, deep and all-encompassing understanding of all aspects of this practice. While most students complete the training with a desire to teach, regardless of the outcome, the training is an empowering experience of self-discovery physically, emotionally and spiritually.
