In the spirit of Saint Louise de Marillac, DePaul Deans Tatum Thomas, Lexa Murphy and Lucia Dettori looked to three guiding principles—inspiration, action, and change—for their presentation and discussion at this year’s Lunch with Louise. St. Louise’s dedication to the Vincentian mission has inspired us to collaborate in our community. They too work collaboratively for their students.
During her presentation, Dean Thomas noted that she is inspired by passion; passion drives us to act, and through this action we can influence change. As we reflect on Louise week, which started with Vincentian Service Day, we keep in mind how our passion drives us to influence change and create a better world. As Dean Thomas said, "Take risks and regret nothing."

Dean Tatum Thomas has had the distinct honor of serving as a member of the Vincentian Mission Institute (VMI), DePaul Cohort 7. The VMI is a program built to help senior leaders from three Vincentian universities answer the question, "What does it mean for our institution to be a vibrant Catholic, Vincentian university in the twenty-first century?".
As the cohort continues to explore this question, they researched related writings and discussed what a tangible and useful framework for Vincentian pragmatism might mean to DePaul decision makers.
Read the following blog post for more on the concept of "Vincentian Pragmatism" : https://blogs.depaul.edu/dmm/2024/03/15/what-is-vincentian-pragmatism/
