End of Summer Pop Up Shop with local vendors Saturday, Sept. 23 from 12 to 5pm. Open to the public. Food, shopping, music, and raffles! Enter through the parking lot on south side of school from Maxwell Street.

A huge shout out to our amazing Principal, Ms. Turner, and our equally amazing Assistant Principal, Dr. Edinburg, for a fun filled last day of school at In the Game. Students had full access to games, rides, miniature golf and much more! Now off to a peaceful and productive summer until next school year. Enjoy Summer Break!

Today our Network Chief, Principal, Assistant Principal and Counselor surprised three teachers who are leading the charge in making sure their students receive consistent social and emotional learning instruction. We congratulate Ms. Barber, Mrs. Wright and Ms. Poleski!

Thank you Be Kind Crew for traveling back to Chicago for a special up close and interactive visit with our students! Smyth is proud to be a Be Kind school as we strive daily to not only teach our students to be kind but our entire school community!

Today is National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day! May is Mental Health Awareness Month! Parents please join us EVERY Monday in May to hear from incredible community providers of mental health and wellness services. See the attached flyer!

A huge shout out to the high school recruitment coordinators, coaches and counselors that attended our 4th Annual High School Signing Day! Thank you for welcoming your incoming Freshman with a little high school swag! We cannot leave out Lauren “LWOO” Martin for the words of encouragement to the Class of 2023! Thank you for pouring into the Smyth scholars!

Pre-Mother's Day PopUp Shop on Sat., April 29: 12:00 to 5:00. Come out and shop black-owned businesses for good food, good music, good quality products, and good vibes at 30 pop-up stores. This week our school counselor led a group of 55 students to the Illinois Holocaust Museum for a chance to view the Negro Motorist Green Book exhibit. The students were reminded of the resilience of African American leaders and business people as well as the importance of being an upstander. The exhibit leaves in 2 weeks but we are grateful that our students partook in this educational field experience!
