Dear LAM community,
We hope you are all staying safe during these trying times. The last few days have seen a rise in social upheaval the likes of which remind of the 50s and 60s’ movement for Civil Rights. The Black community, in particular, has been showing their grief over what has been centuries of systematic oppression. These are our classmates, our friends and their families. Their lives matter. Black Lives Matter. We urge you to empathize with their anger and their sadness, for we won’t make the world a better, fairer, more loving place for everyone if we don’t start with those who have been left behind. We urge you to stand by the side of those who have been protesting their oppression, and not that of those who frame them as criminals. To our hermanxs afrolatinxs, we say you are not alone. We stand by your side and support you on this fight. We have attached a list of several resources that can be useful for further supporting the cause (credit goes to on Instagram).
Be safe and care for each other.
Sincerely,
The LAM Board
