Congratulations to REACH alum, Brianna Bracy, MSW, LCSW, who officially became a licensed clinical social worker and graduated in the third cohort of the Rush Legacy Mental Health Fellows program. Through intensive training, mentorship, and clinical supervision, these fellows are equipped to provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive care at Rush and throughout the community.

We're proud to have been part of her story — starting here at REACH — and we're excited to watch her career continue to flourish.

This summer, we hosted REACH's first cohort of middle school students for Human Body Science at the Rush Center for Wellbeing at Sankofa Wellness Village Center. Over the course of two weeks, these young scholars learned about the major systems of the human body through hands-on learning activities, labs, and dissections.

We look forward to bringing more STEM learning and exploration to young students in West Garfield Park this fall at Sankofa.

We're excited to welcome our new community education associate, Ellen Chalstrom. Ellen will be leading our programs for students in kindergarten through second grade, including our STEMagineers program. Ellen brings a wealth of knowledge as an experienced educator with Chicago Public Schools.

Congratulations to our MedSTEM interns for another successful summer! As part of their research project this summer, these high school students focused on using technological advancements to find innovative solutions to the biggest health problems in our community and presented their findings last week.

Our winning presentations were:
-Project Pulmonatal: a pacifier that tracks respiratory rate and temperature in infants to prevent RSV
-Beyond the Prescription: an interactive and educational site aimed at reducing the stigma associated with substance abuse

This dedicated group of leaders, advocates and community partners will help guide our work, strengthen connections, and ensure that our programs continue to meet the needs of the communities we serve. Together, we're building stronger pathways for the next generation of learners and leaders. Stay tuned for progress updates from us.

Applications for Med School Bootcamp have been extended! The MedSchool Bootcamp is designed for college juniors, seniors, and graduates who plan to apply to medical school in the 2027–2028 cycle and have not applied before.
