Did you know that incorporating movement in a child's learning routine does more than just "help get the wiggles out"? Studies show that getting kids to move their bodies throughout the day increases focus, allows for positive sensory input, and positive changes to social emotional well-being. Students of all ages benefit from intermittent movement throughout the day, regardless of what they're learning. Young students benefit from movement games for every 8-20 minutes of instruction while older students should have opportunities to move their bodies before and after each class.

Meet the founder of Sunnyside Education! Mooni has been an elementary school teacher since 2015, mostly working in independent schools. Originally from Atlanta, she has been a Chicagoan for twelve years. She started Sunnyside Education when she noticed families expressing worry about the effects the global pandemic had on their young students' academic and social-emotional progress. She hopes to use her expertise in elementary education to empower young students to take control of their own learning through instruction that is personal, effective, and fun!

Did you know that many kids who are labeled "disorganized", "inattentive," or "disruptive" are just students who are still learning how to communicate effectively? What parents, teachers, and other adults may see as difficult behaviors could be a sign that your student(s) need help with their executive functions. This means they struggle with prioritizing their tasks at home and at school effectively, remembering things they just learned, or keeping their thoughts and physical materials organized. Oftentimes these struggles can lead to an inability to regulate their emotions during times of high stress or they might need to be given the same directions more than once (or twice, or three times).
