NEIU ACTIVITIES ‘ON THE ROAD’
Several members of the NEIU community attended the recent NSTA (National Science Teachers Association) meeting in Indianapolis, March 28 – April 1, 2012. Among the highlights was presentation of a workshop featuring activities in the MSTQE Program, developed by NEIU faculty & students for use by our pre-service middle school math\science teachers, and of course in their classes once they graduate.
The presenters at our workshop (“Integrating Inquiry-based Math & Science for Pre-Service Middle School Teachers”) included Prof. Paul Dolan (Physics/MSTQE), Prof Wendy Thomas-Williams (CTC/MSTQE), Prof. Huseyin Colak (College of Education), Alumna Alia Hollister (McPherson School), and current students Joyce Mangelsdorf and Cathie Anderson. Those who participated in the workshop were having such fun that they did not really want us to stop (except that someone else needed the room).
If you want to participate, then come to the workshop session at the NEIU Student Research & Creative Activities Symposium (in SU-123 at 11:30, Friday April 13), and Cathie and other students will facilitate some activities with you.
