Why do we celebrate Pride Month? It's to honor and recognize those who began the modern gay liberation movement with the Stonewall Riots in 1969, but did you know it took another 30 years for June to officially be recognized as Pride Month, and another 10 years after that for the entire LGBTQ+ community to be recognized as part of it? And still today, we're fighting for basic human rights, decency, and freedom from hateful laws and rhetoric at home and abroad. We celebrate Pride because we love and champion the q***r youth, staff, and community members we serve, and we believe they deserve better. We believe you matter. 🏳️🌈

Two paws way up for the youth who graduated from our Canine Therapy program last week! Thank you to our long-time partner Canine Therapy Corps for empowering our youth to build confidence, to form relationships with some amazing pups, and to learn – and teach – new skills. 🐶

As Spring finally arrives in Chicago, we were thrilled to welcome back for another volunteer day in our Garden of Serenity! They rolled up their sleeves and did a truly impressive amount of planting, pruning and weeding to make a beautiful outdoor space for our youth (and resident pollinators)!

Congrats, Daesha! 🥰
This Mother’s Day, we’re spotlighting Daesha R. She was facing housing instability while raising two children with limited family support. Despite these obstacles, she committed to her goal of working in the medical field. She enrolled in medical training at Malcolm X College, working with Lawrence Hall, a member of our network — and she thrived.
Today, Daesha is a mother of three and employed full-time as a medical assistant, thanks to her hard work and the tuition voucher she received for her training through The Partnership’s network. Congratulations on this incredible accomplishment, Daesha, and Happy Mother’s Day!
