OUR PROGRAMS

FOSTER CARE: Our Foster Care program provides safe, nurturing homes for children who have been removed from their birth families due to neglect and/or abuse. Fostering offers havens for children until they can safely return to their families, transition to guardianship, or become adopted. THERAPEUTIC DAY SCHOOL: Our Therapeutic Day School creates individualized educational programs f

or every student and fosters autonomy, skill mastery, and experiential learning. CHILD AND FAMILY TREATMENT CENTER (CFTC): Our CFTC provides treatment intervention for youth experiencing acute emotional challenges and includes residential services as well as behavioral, expressive, and recreational therapies. TRANSITIONAL AND INDEPENDENT LIVING: Serving youth ages 17-21, our Transitional and Independent Living programs teach independent living skills under the care of our around-the-clock case management team and Life Skills Educators. PROJECT WORK: Project Work serves South Shore’s youth, families, and community through job training and placement, mentoring, restorative justice, and violence prevention.

A big thank you to Andrew Hitzhusen with the Illinois Afterschool for Children and Teens Now () Coalition for bringing their expertise on grief processing and neurodivergence in youth programming to our TDS staff for their full day of professional development! We all feel that much more equipped to handle the challenges that come with the work we do every day.

How is your family spending the last week of summer before the school year starts? Did you make it to the Back to School bash at our 71st Street campus? Thanks to our staff, generous donors, and our rock star volunteers from Aramark, Chicago White Sox, and the community, our Supply Drive helped set the youth in our programs and our city up for success! 🎒🍎✏️

From the cake jars to the therapy pups, it was a howling good time at Lawrence Hall's Alumni BBQ on Saturday! We were delighted to share a meal off the grill with our alumni, families, youth, staff, and Board members. Thank you for coming!
