Obstacles.
A fallen branch in the middle of a trail.
A boulder blocking my way.
A bear snarling at me.

Obstacles.

I feel them a lot.
Blocking me from where I want to go.
I’ve pushed at them.
I’ve swing at them.
I’ve pleaded with them to let me pass.

When I am gentle with them
Speak and ask them why they are there
Sit with them
I learn.

I can understand why they are there.
They aren’t there to block my way
But there as a reminder to stay present
To wonder
And to remind me that this is a journey.
Not a race.

I’ve been reading a lot of parenting books as of late. I am not a parent, but I am so drawn to these books. At first I didn’t know why I was searching for parenting books at the bookstores. When I held them in my hands I would feel joy, excitement and a burst of energy. As I have been reading them I realize why I am drawn to them. I am drawn to them because they are helping me heal my inner child. They’re helping me learn how to parent her. They are helping me learn to love her. To understand her. To give her all the tools she desired as a child. They are helping me to be gentle with her. These books have helped heal parts of me I didn’t know I needed healing in these ways.

And from these books I am learning to heal. To show up for others in a new way. And to lead in a way that feels good to me.

I have been reading Janet Lasbury’s book “Elevating Child Care” and though it’s about how to intentional and mindful with young children, I am being nudged and reminded to find and come back to myself. Be present for myself. Take things slow for myself. Allowing to let myself feel the big emotions I do and give myself a safe place to feel my feelings. To express them. And release them. I am reminded that the more I care and pour into myself, the more I have space to care and pour into others I care about. I’m listening more deeply to the inner voice inside that tells me “I can, I am and I believe in you.”

Everyday I’m reminded by the power I have inside of me. It’s the same power you have inside of you. It’s the part of us that brings us joy. It’s the voice that says “let’s try” or “remember how good that feels?”

Shadows swirl around us, nervous energy creeps in. When we hold on to the joy, the simple things we notice when we’re present, the shadows can seem a little smaller.

How do you shine your light? What brings you joy? Share in the comments! If you’re looking for more connection, check out my patreon account where we deep dive into joy and playfulness because the world needs more of it!

Joy. It fills you up. It reminds you of who you are and the feelings that surface when you’re doing things that feel good. It’s like a compass to check in.
Obviously there are things in our day to day lives that we don’t find joy in, and that’s ok. Not everything is fun!

But when we can recognize the things that fill us with joy we can start making shifts and schedule joy into our day.

- a nice afternoon walk
- drinking a glass of water in the am
- reading a page in a book

What fills you with joy? How do you make space for it in your day?

Share this with someone that you think needs a reminder to explore their joy today! And head over to my patreon for more ideas of finding joy!

I have been thinking about my breath lately and what I’m inhaling and what I’m releasing. Our breath connects us to our body. Inhaling something that we want to call in reminds us of how we want to feel. Exhaling the s**t that’s holding us back releases it. Even just for that moment. We get a piece of it out of us. Sending light as always.

A daily check in that calls me back to what it is I want my day to feel like.

Others thoughts of you, don’t define you. Consciously shedding the labels we were given allows us to find the ones we truly are.

I’m learning the power of harnessing the

I AM statement

It’s not something I ever practiced.
It always felt weird to say who I am.
But as I’ve started this practice of saying “I am”
Something turns on inside of me

And I start to see my gifts.

Share your own I am statements in the comments below.

Sending gratitude and light,

Do you forget to hold space for yourself?
To put yourself on your to do list?
To take that extra minute in the morning to just breath in the air and smile?

When we make space for ourself, we come alive. We show others who we are and we shine bright.

Shining my light to you and receiving your light. Grateful for you.

I say this to myself a lot.
I curl up in the shadow.
I hide.
I keep my feelings to myself.

But it doesn’t let me move forward.
I’m stuck.
I’m alone.

Until I see my light.
The voice that’s sometimes small.
It grows inside of me.
Urges me to see,
That these feelings are ok.
Speaking them out loud help me release.
Help me connect.
Help me find peace.

My light fuels me to go forward.
My light feeds me to be gentle.
My light guides me to healing.

Sending light always,

Jenny
