Yesterday, Penn Badgley and Nura Mowzoon visited DePaul University to discuss the complicated relationship we have with forming bonds and answering tough questions in the new age in their series, “Can We Talk?”

Over 600 DePaul students attended this fabulous event, and a select 30 students got to have dinner with Penn and Nura after the event to continue the conversation with an interfaith lens.

We want to thank Penn, Nura, and their teams for putting on such a magnetic and beautiful presentation that sparked the conversation with DePaul students to look deeper into how they interact with those they may not agree with.

Stay tuned for more events like this in the future!

Ramadan Mubarak! ☪️

It is officially the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, meaning it is now the month long celebration of Ramadan! Ramadan is a holiday in the Islamic faith in which Muslims will create stronger bonds with Allah (God) through prayer, reflection, fasting, and celebration. Ramadan is dictated by the lunar calendar, as it begins with the crescent moon and ends with the next crescent moon the following month. During Ramadan, Muslims will fast from sunrise to sunset. This allows for iftars, which are evening meals that break the daily fast. Often these are times for community, as places of worship will host evening prayers as well as large feasts for the iftar.

Have a blessed and happy Ramadan!

DePaul RDPC is proud to present “Can We Talk?”, featuring Penn Badgley and Dr. Nura Mowzoon!

We are excited to announce that Actor Penn Badgley (star of Gossip Girl and YOU) and Dr. Nura Mowzoon are coming to DePaul University for a program, Can We Talk? Penn has worked in the entertainment industry for the last twenty-five years, which has given him a particular grasp of the influences of mass storytelling and media. Nura teaches at Arizona State University and specializes in the field of human relationships. Together, they are eager to start a constructive dialogue with students, exploring how to shift our style of discourse from one of contention to one of cohesion and collaboration. In their presentation, they will explore issues such as the influence of media on interpersonal dynamics, the need all individuals have for connection and community, and how to have hard conversations regarding difficult and often polarizing topics.

The event is free and open to all DePaul students, but space is limited and seats must be reserved through DeHub. The event will open in DeHub TODAY, Monday, March 13th at 10am. If you are interested in attending this event, please RSVP as soon as possible. (Also, encourage your friends to RSVP quickly.) You can only reserve one ticket and this is only open to DePaul students.
