I’m learning (and re-learning) this in real time…so I figured I’d share.

Most of the time, we don’t need something new. We just need to go back to the basics.

When we get overwhelmed, by default, sometimes we look for a new system, a new routine, a new strategy… and skip right over the things that actually help us stay focused and not all over the place.

Things like:
āœ”ļø Putting the phone down
āœ”ļø Getting enough rest
āœ”ļø Eating real meals
āœ”ļø Moving our bodies
āœ”ļø Saying what needs to be said instead of holding it in

I try to do a few of these every day. Not perfectly… but consistently (I believe in consistency over intensity).

And I’ve noticed the difference.

I’m more focused.
I don’t get overwhelmed as easily.
And I can handle life doing what it does best… life-ing šŸ˜…

If life has been life-ing from every direction… the basics aren’t optional.

They keep everything else from falling apart.

It's still , so let me drop some knowledge for you...

There’s a big difference between coping with stress and managing it, and too many of us just know how to cope.

We scroll our lives away
We push through no matter what
We pretend like everything is fine
We keep going because people are depending on us

But none of that actually reduces the stress… it just delays it.

And eventually it shows up like this:
→ Being physically present but mentally somewhere else
→ Feeling guilty when you sit down to rest
→ Never feeling ā€œcaught upā€ no matter how much you do

That’s not just stress… that’s what it looks like when you have too much on your plate and not enough capacity to hold it.

If you know you've been coping more than managing, then I invite you to oin me for the virtual Stress Detox in May.

Life is gonna continue to "life"... and we need to talk about what stress actually looks like, how it’s showing up for you, and how to manage it in a way that actually supports you — not just what you have to get done.

Time is the only resource we don’t get more of.

And most of the time, we’re so focused on our to-do list… we’re not being intentional about what we should NOT be giving our time and attention to.

Every ā€œyesā€ costs something... your time, your energy, your resources.

And at some point, you have to start counting the cost.

Maybe that means you actually unplug from work this weekend.
Maybe that means you order groceries instead of going to the store.
Maybe that means you stop having the same conversation… again.

Whatever that looks like for you, don’t just think about what needs to get done.

Ask yourself: What can I no longer afford to keep giving my time and attention to in this season?

If this hit home, I talk more about it in my podcast episode, Breaking the Over-Functioning Cycle.

Might be a good listen while you’re getting your life together this weekend šŸ˜

I believe in having a theme for the month… but this one? This one is personal.

Too many of us have normalized stress and then wear it like a badge of honor because we’re being a good…

ā€¼ļø Employee or business owner
ā€¼ļø Mom, wife, friend, or sibling
ā€¼ļø Problem solver or the one everybody calls

But what we don’t talk about enough is how that same stress quietly eats away at our capacity.

And if I’m being real…that kinda lifestyle almost cost me my life.

That’s why I do this work.

Not just to talk about stress…

But to help you recognize it, understand it, and actually manage it before your body forces you to.

All month long, I’ll be sharing real, practical ways to do just that... through emails and a few live conversations.

If you’ve been feeling it lately… this is your sign to pay attention.

If your patience has been shorter…
If your brain won’t turn off at night…
If you’ve been running on empty for a while…

Your body might be asking for a reset.

That’s exactly what Stress Detox is about.

On April 18th, we’re slowing down and having honest conversations about stress and how to manage it in a healthier way.

If your body has been trying to get your attention lately… this might be the conversation you need to be in.

I’d love to see you in the room šŸ’œ
