Parent University Adventure at Ottawa Trail Woods!

Our amazing parents spent the day at Ottawa Trail Woods taking part in the Discover Nature workshop with Shedd Aquarium, and it was such a beautiful experience!

During this hands-on workshop, parents enjoyed a peaceful nature walk, created art using items found in nature, and shared meaningful reflections about connecting with the outdoors. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn, create, and explore together.

We loved seeing everyone so engaged and inspired — thank you to all the parents who joined us and made this Parent University event so special!

We’re thrilled to announce:
• 🎉 In partnership with the Zakat Foundation, LA Tiendita Community Store is reopening! Join us starting Tuesday, September 9, from 8:45 AM – 12:45 PM. The store will be open biweekly—come and take part!
• ✍️ ESL Classes with Daley College are back! Registration is on September 9.
• 🛡️ A Know Your Rights (KYR) hybrid session will also take place on the same day.

📌 PAC Collaborative Leadership Meeting
• Mark your calendars! Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, September 11.
• ⏰ Times: 9:30 AM in English | 10:45 AM in Spanish
• This meeting is hybrid, and we encourage at least one representative from each school to attend.

Last Thursday, we celebrated an unforgettable event filled with joy, pride, and community. We honored parents, volunteers, leaders, and partners who make Parent University a space of growth, connection, and learning.

This Thursday, we’re celebrating our incredible Parent University Shining Stars at A Day Among the Stars!
It’s our way of recognizing the outstanding parents and volunteers who go above and beyond to support our community.
We can’t wait to honor their dedication and shine a spotlight on their amazing contributions!

We showed up for our students at the Illinois Capitol!

Today, a passionate group of parents, students, and staff from Chicago Public Schools, coordinated by Advance Illinois, joined other school districts from across the state to demand $550 million in new funding for the Evidence-Based Funding (EBF) Formula in FY26.

We’re united by one goal: fully and equitably funding our schools so all students—no matter their ZIP code—have the resources they need to succeed. Despite progress, 3 in 4 students in Illinois still attend underfunded schools. We can’t afford to wait.

We’re asking lawmakers to prioritize our kids and invest in their future by increasing state funding for EBF. Let’s keep the momentum going!

A heartfelt thank you to all the amazing volunteers, parents, and staff who surprised me with a birthday breakfast. Feeling the love and support from this beautiful community reminds me why I do what I do. Your kindness and energy fuel my commitment to lead with purpose and build a stronger community of parents dedicated to supporting our children’s success.
