Hello friends! I know its still hot out, and I hope you are all staying cool. Im hoping you can all support my efforts in collecting winter coats for adults and children. We have many families in need in our district and this is one way we can take a little of that burden off and keep families warm. We need gently used coats in good condition. If you can help please send me a message. Please share with your families and friends the more we can collect the better. Last year we were able to help over 200 families. I would love to repeat or double that. Thank you for considering and your generosity. God bless!

Necesitamos abrigos usados suavemente en buenas condiciones. Por favor, compartan con sus familias y amigos cuanto más podamos recoger, mejor. El año pasado pudimos ayudar a más de 200 familias. 🔥 Stay cool, Chicago! 🔥

DFSS’s Cooling Centers will be open on Monday, August 31 through Wednesday, September 2, during standard operating hours.

📌 For a full list of citywide cooling center locations, visit 🔗 chi.gov/cooling
📌 For shelter placement, to find the nearest cooling center, and for well-being checks for seniors and unhoused neighbors, please contact 3-1-1.
📌 During hours of operation, residents can also find relief at Chicago Public Library locations, City Colleges of Chicago main campus locations and Chicago Park District fieldhouses located throughout the city.
📌 Also, the Chicago Police Department’s 22 district stations are available 24 hours for relief from the heat, and to be connected with a shelter.

Registration for English Classes is happening next week Tuesday September 1st no appointment needed. Walk in between 9AM to 2PM. Don't leave for tomorrow what you can do today. It's never too late to learn.
La inscripción para las clases de inglés se realizará la próxima semana, el martes 1 de septiembre, sin necesidad de cita previa. Solo venga entre las 9 am y las 2 pm. No dejes para mañana lo que puedes hacer hoy. Nunca es demasiado tarde para aprender.

Chicago kids don’t have to go hungry this summer. CPS is serving FREE meals to ALL children ages 1–18 — and you don’t need an ID to get them. 🙌🏾
Here’s what you need to know:
📍 Two types of locations:
• 🟠 LunchStop Sites — Free outdoor lunch at select schools
• 🔵 In-School Sites — Free meals at schools running summer programs (breakfast AND lunch!)
📅 Dates & times vary by location — check your nearest site FIRST
👦🏾 Kids must be present — parents cannot pick up on their behalf
🍽️ Meals must be eaten onsite

You are invited to attend a Community Budget Feedback Session. These five meetings (four in-person,
one virtual) will be a chance for stakeholders to learn about the 2026-2027 school year budget and
provide feedback. Each meeting will include an update from district leaders on the budget as well as a
roundtable discussion. We deeply value your feedback from all CPS engagements this year. Your input
continues to be crucial as we work to strengthen our schools. The schedule for these events is below. The
goal of these meetings will be to:
● Explain the CPS budget and its impact on the student experience;
● Discuss options that will allow CPS to build on our students’ outstanding progress, both next
school year and in the future.
● All sessions will include Spanish and ASL translation, and participants planning to attend the
Community Feedback Sessions should RSVP at this link.
