Have you signed your student up for the summer reading program at the Flossmoor Public Library? It's not too late! Stop by the library today!

Can you believe it is already June 1st? Summer reading begins today! Stop by the library to sign-up for one of our summer reading programs. Have fun! Support the library! Win prizes! 🥳

Kids and Teens: When you sign up everyone leaves with a Summer Reading t-shirt! We will have two options to log your books. Option one - the Reader Zone app, where you can keep track of your challenges. Option two is a paper log that you can complete and return to the Youth Services department. Upon completion of your challenges, stop by and pick up your coupon packets and your entries into the grand prize drawings!

Adult participants: Earn a prize for reading 4 books of your choice. Earn bonus prize ballots for every additional book read, up to a maximum of 5 ballots earned from reading/listening to books. Adult Summer Reading participants earn additional prize ballots by answering weekly trivia questions correctly and attending programs listed on their game-board. Adults who sign up for Adult Summer Reading June 1-7 will have an opportunity to win a year-long membership to the Art Institute of Chicago and will be able to pick up a summer reading t-shirt at sign-up (while supplies last)!

As we close out another wonderful school year, we wish all of School District 161 a joyful and relaxing summer vacation.

To our incredible staff, thank you for your dedication and care throughout the year. We hope you take this time to rest, recharge, and enjoy meaningful moments with family, friends, and the hobbies you love.

To our students, we hope your summer is filled with fun, adventure, and discovery. Be sure to spend time at your local library, participate in park district programs, explore new interests, and continue learning in ways that inspire you.

If you are enrolled in Summer Academy, we look forward to seeing you on the first day of class at Serena Hills School on Monday, June 15.

Today marks the last day of school for Flossmoor School District 161.
We came together last night to celebrate an incredible year on the beautiful campus of Serena Hills School. It was a night filled with laughter, connection, and plenty of fun.
Thank you to our amazing staff, dedicated volunteers, and outstanding students for making this year so memorable!

Flossmoor School District 161 recently gathered at Idlewild Country Club to celebrate this year’s retirees, and it was truly a lovely afternoon.

District administration shared heartfelt words honoring the incredible impact each staff member has made over the years. Stories were told, laughter filled the room, and so many meaningful memories were revisited. It was an afternoon that reflected not only years of dedication, but also the strong friendships built along the way.

Thank you to our retirees for your commitment, care, and lasting contributions to our students and community. You leave behind a legacy that will not be forgotten. Wishing you all the very best in this next chapter.

A reminder that there is no school on Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day.

We invite you to join the Parker Junior High Band and the James Hart Middle School Band at the Veterans Memorial in Homewood for a special ceremony. Pre-ceremony music will begin at 10:15 a.m., with the official program starting at 10:30 a.m. During the ceremony, the bands will perform “Marches of the Armed Forces” to honor the service and sacrifice of our military men and women.

In addition, members of the Homewood-Flossmoor band program will also be performing at the event in support of the ceremony.

The Veteran's Memorial is located at 18161 Morris Avenue.
