Our courses may be applied for transfer to various bachelor’s degree programs in music nationwide. Our private lessons and ensembles are open to all members of the community: majors, non-majors, community members, high school students, retirees... everyone! Please contact our music faculty if you would like to enroll in lessons and/or participate in our ensembles. Dr. Francis "Frank" Cook is the Instructor of Music at LCCC. Dr. Cook teaches music theory, music history, and applied low brass lessons. He also directs the LCCC Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble, both of which are composed of students and community members. Dr. Cook is an active clinician in both conducting and low brass pedagogy along the Front Range. He has worked with trombonists, low brass sections, marching bands, concert bands, and jazz ensembles at all levels across Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, and his home state of New York. He is a longtime member of the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra in Greely, Colorado, serving as second trombonist since 2008. He also performs regularly with the Fort Collins Symphony, Cheyenne Symphony, Wyoming Symphony, Longmont Symphony, and Colorado Jazz Orchestra. His areas of research include early Classical trombone literature and its performance practice and American popular music. Andy Kropp is an adjunct instructor at LCCC teaching applied woodwinds, music theory, and aural skills courses. He also directs the LCCC String Ensemble. Locally, Mr. Kropp serves as a relief conductor for the Cheyenne Youth Symphony and has recently conducted the pit orchestras for Memphis and Hello Dolly. Kropp also maintains an active performing and teaching career along the Front Range. A doubling expert, he has also performed in numerous shows including West Side Story, Sweeney Todd, and the national tour of Chicago, among others at professional theaters in Greeley, Cheyenne, Loveland, and Fort Collins. Well versed in both classical and jazz, Mr. Kropp performs regularly in big bands, combos, and Dixieland ensembles, as well as with orchestras including the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra and Fort Collins Symphony. He also serves as an auxiliary clarinetist for the National Repertory Orchestra in Breckenridge. Bethany Smith-Jacobs directs LCCC's two vocal ensembles, Collegiate Chorale and Cantorei. As an adjunct instructor, she also teaches applied voice, diction for singers, and introduction to music. Bethany holds a Masters of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. As a classically trained soprano, she enjoys performing throughout Wyoming, Montana, and Colorado. Bethany has had the pleasure to sing with companies like Loveland Opera, Denver Opera Collective and the Boulder Philharmonic. She is currently the lead vocalist at the First Christian Church of Cheyenne and enjoys singing a combination of classical and contemporary repertoire. Bethany's most recent accomplishment was performing a show that she co-wrote and co-directed called "Songs from the Attic" at NOVA Center for Performing Arts in Billings, MT.
