The Cheyenne Educational Foundation is excited to announce the receipt of a $5000 donation from NextEra Energy Resources. This donation will be used for grade based scholarships for graduating seniors, teacher grants and CEF special projects. Already this year the CEF has funded grants for books for three teachers, graphing calculators for the high school, science field trips for 7th and 8th grade and sensory supplies for the preK class.
“We are proud to invest in Oklahoma and specifically, in the community and students at Cheyenne,” said Bridget Acland, senior project manager, NextEra Energy Resources, LLC. “We appreciate the collaboration with the community to develop projects that deliver immense value to the area. Our hope is that the scholarships and programs supported by these funds will deepen the spirit of community and tradition that make Cheyenne such a wonderful place to live and work.”
NextEra Energy Resources has been investing in Oklahoma since 2003 with the company’s first project in Harper and Woodward counties, and the company further expanded their presence in the state in 2024 when they opened their regional office in downtown Oklahoma City. The company has invested more than $10 billion in Oklahoma, with 24 operational wind, solar and battery energy storage projects, 1,500 natural gas wells, 53 miles of natural gas pipeline and one operational transmission line. NextEra Energy Resources also has more than a dozen projects in late-stage development or construction throughout Oklahoma.
All of NextEra Energy Resources energy generation and storage projects in Oklahoma employ graduates of Oklahoma technical schools and colleges, underscoring the company’s commitment to providing valuable career opportunities for Oklahomans.
In addition to NextEra Energy Resources’ sizable investment in infrastructure, the company provided nearly $1 million in local sponsorship dollars in communities across the Sooner state from 2023-2025 alone. The company’s charitable donations have gone to support volunteer fire departments, agricultural programs and local sports teams, among dozens of others and now the Cheyenne Educational Foundation.
NextEra Energy Resources contributions to Oklahoma’s economy and infrastructure are also felt at the community level through the millions of dollars in taxes paid by the company each year. In 2025 alone, NextEra Energy Resources paid more than $24 million in taxes in Oklahoma, with much of those funds directly supporting schools, first responders and infrastructure in the counties where the company operates.
