Every day I am so very blessed to do what I love and that is never taken for granted. Just over two weeks ago I wrapped up my twenty-sixth year of teaching preschool. The end of the school year is the same every year, bittersweet, I cry every year. At the end of the school year, I look into the eyes of the children I have the privilege of knowing, teaching and loving, some of them for just one year, others for two or three years, and I realize this group of children, this little community, will never be together the way we are right now. I am an influence in their development that I hope lasts a lifetime. Memories of preschool and of me will fade for them but each of them leaves an impression on my heart. Sometimes I get to stay connected to past students and their families and I count this as a blessing. I love getting graduation announcements and running into past students in public and they come over for a hug and to catch up. This week I received a note from a past student and she wrote “I could have never forgotten you.” And that feeling is mutual with every single child I have taught.
I am Thankful!
