New Teachers with three years or less experience or those currently on an exception authorization should consider attending the 's New SPED Teacher Boot Camp in Cheyenne from July 28-29. The PD will deepen your understanding of IDEA, offer hands-on opportunities to develop appropriate IEP goals and services, and provide key tools, routines, and practices to help new teachers start strong!
$250 scholarships are available to help cover the cost of registration for eligible applicants.

The congratulates Dr. Kate Kniss, Chief Academic Officer for Albany County School District #1, for being named the 2026 Curriculum Director of the Year! The award honors her outstanding leadership, innovation, and commitment to student and educator success.
Kniss has played a key role in developing cohesive district-wide systems for curriculum, assessment, and professional learning. Her leadership has helped create a thorough process for vetting and implementing instructional materials, developing common assessments aligned to essential learnings, and supporting teachers through meaningful professional development opportunities.

Superintendent Megan Degenfelder began the week by updating the Joint Education Committee on several key initiatives, including streamlining the state standards, CTSOs, literacy, Education Savings Accounts (ESA), and recalibration. staff also presented before the committee on the Educational Basket of Goods, Administration of Education, School Discipline, AI, and Distance Education Grants.

The event will take place June 10–12 at the University of Wyoming. Cost is $225 for students, $400 for WACTE members, and $475 for non-members. Join the in celebrating Oliver Nambo from Rawlins High School, who has been selected to receive the 2026 Douvas Memorial Scholarship!
Oliver plans to attend Casper Community College to earn his Electrical Apprenticeship Certification as a first step towards his long-term goal of becoming a journeyman electrician and start his own business in Rawlins to support the community he loves.
The Douvas Memorial Scholarship was established in 1984 by Mr. Peter G. Douvas, a Greek immigrant who wanted to pave the way for first-generation American youth in Wyoming to attend in-state institutions, and is awarded each spring.

Denver Priest, who recently graduated from Cheyenne South High School, has been selected to represent at the 2026 National Youth Science Camp (NYSCamp). The offers our congratulations and best wishes as he pursues a double major in petroleum engineering and environmental and natural resources in college starting next fall!
The NYSCamp is a residential science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) program designed to honor and challenge some of the nation's rising leaders and provide them with opportunities to engage with professionals and participate in exciting outdoor activities.
