The LCCC Trades Pathway would like to extend our appreciation to Puma Steel, the American Institute of Steel Construction, and the Rocky Mountain Steel Construction Association for their support of the Southeast Wyoming Welding Competition and SteelDay 2025!
This annual event, now in its 9th year, hosted over 140 high school students from Wyoming, Colorado and Nebraska; showcasing their welding talent and dedication to the trade in a preliminary competition on Thursday on the LCCC campus. The event was capped off on Friday where the top 40 welders competed for prizes and scholarships in excess of $40,000. Our thanks to Puma Steel for hosting the final competition, and to Wyoming Congresswoman Harriet Hageman for presenting the awards to our competitors.
Championed by the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), along with its members and partners, SteelDays is the structural steel industry’s largest educational and networking function. Each year, SteelDays offers free events to showcase how the industry contributes to building America. Scholarships awarded during SteelDay 2025 may be used to help students attend welding programs at the school of their choice, and additional prizes are provided through the generous support of businesses and industry throughout the Rocky Mountain region; reflecting the growing demand for trained welders to fill well-paying, highly skilled, and in-demand jobs in all kinds of construction.
