A step in the right direction
For many families, Harvard has always sounded like two things at once:
A dream school.
And an impossible bill.
But beginning in the 2025-26 academic year, Harvard College announced a major financial aid expansion for undergraduate students.
Admitted students from families earning $200,000 or less per year will receive free tuition.
For families earning $100,000 or less, Harvard said it will cover all billed expenses, including tuition, food, housing, health insurance, and travel costs.
The most surprising part is how many families this could affect.
According to Harvard, about 86% of U.S. families will qualify for Harvard College financial aid under the expanded plan.
That does not mean Harvard is easy to get into.
But it does mean that for many students who are admitted, the biggest barrier may not be the price tag anymore.
Sometimes a story about college is really a story about access.
And for families who never thought a place like Harvard could be financially possible, this announcement changes the conversation. 🎓
