Different doesn’t mean difficult.
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned about leadership is this: People don’t have to think like you, communicate like you, or approach a problem like you to bring value to the team.
We are all wired differently—and often, we are predictably different. The frustration comes when we expect others to respond the way we would.
Strong leadership requires us to get curious about those differences rather than frustrated by them. Instead of asking, “Why do they do it that way?” Try asking, “What might they be seeing that I’m not?” Because when leaders learn to recognize and value different ways of thinking, communicating, and contributing, friction can become an opportunity for connection. That’s where better leadership begins.
