The Women’s Center (WC) was founded in 1973 to support, educate, and empower women and men in the full attainment of their intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual goals through a wide variety of services and programs. This year, the Women's Center has recognized four individuals that have made a tremendous impact in their work through two distinguished awards: the Women's Center Award, and the Kelli Armstrong Award.

This years Women’s Center Award Winners are Massiel Flores Mairena, Amirah Orozco, and Victoria Garcia who continue to bring joy, compassion, and meaningful conversations to the Women’s Center.

This year, the Kelli Armstrong Award is presented to Dr. Regine Jean-Charles for her continual and impactful work in making institutional change at BC and beyond.

We are so excited to recognize these individuals who continue to empower and celebrate our communities!

Thrive is a mentor program composed of sophomore and senior women at Boston College with the goal of building new relationships and engaging in authentic conversation. The program consists of weekly small group meetings facilitated by senior women, and one off-campus overnight retreat. Topics for discussion include passions and vocations, community and friendship, spirituality, goal-setting, and many others.This is a wonderful opportunity to build community and talk about the shared experience of being women students at BC. Professor Kathleen Flinton, a practicing clinician providing therapy to survivors of torture and trafficking and an educator from the Boston College School of social work, and Isadora Brito, a domestic violence/IPV case coordinator at the Boston Medical Center, answer questions about the intersection of immigration and survivorship. They speak to the unique factors that cause immigrant women to be more vulnerable to sexual violence, what the road to healing looks like for some, and the resources available to immigrant survivors.
