Dear friends!
Boston STEM Lab will be closed for the summer.
I am taking a moment to put all my energy into a new role I have started in a great research group in a fantastic institute here in Boston. There, I take part of the outreach subgroup developing educational materials for high school students and contributing to an amazing project. I’ll share more in the future!
I am excited and I may have to reorganize my plans for the next steps in my career and my plans for Boston STEM Lab.
I’ll keep you posted but for now you can still have access to some of my lessons through our online curriculum. Find a link in bio or head to BostonSTEMlab.com
Thank you all so much for your support the past three years. I am so happy I embarked in this adventure and got to do so much with you, meet so many fabulous creative people and kids and grow as a person, science communicator and educator. I love you all!
¡Gracias!

So grateful to my students and their caregivers!
Today we had our last spring session and it was joyful to look back and think about when this group of students first started.
Many of them came all the way through the academic year to my STEM classes every week!
I can see how they have grown confidence, developed a whole set of skills and become more inquisitive and problem solving. Moreover, they learnt to follow protocols and directions, to run experiments and develop projects. They made friends and enjoyed the free play time at the end of each session with them. I am so happy and proud of them!
Happy summer friends and thank you for all you have done to make Boston STEM Lab be the program it is.

STEM Lab today
We started with a fruit dissection. This is an experiment to see what’s inside a fruit. It’s great to discover that fruits are like suitcases for seeds as the picture book: “A fruit is a suitcase for seeds” suggests.
In our seeds lab we also set a germination experiment to answer the question: what makes a seed a seed? And students observed different types of seeds with the dissection microscope, we had so much fun!
If you want to have access to our spring, summer, fall and winter STEM curriculums from home purchase our online program, it’s great!

🌍 Earth Day 🌎
Psychedelic Milk Experiment
We love this experiment and today we made an Earth Day themed version. You can also try this at home with you kids. It requires only a few materials. It’s quick and fun!
What you need for the experiment:
🥣 a shallow dish
🥛 milk
🎨 food coloring
🧻 Cotton swab
🧼 liquid dish soap mixed with water 💧
How to do the experiment?
1- Pour some milk in the dish, just enough to cover the bottom of it.
2- Add some drops of food coloring on the milk (we used green and blue for our Earth Day theme).
3- Dip a cotton swab I n the dish soap and then with the tip of it touch the dots of food coloring you placed on the milk. Before you do this make a prediction of what will happen.
4- See what happens and enjoy the show!
Can you tell me what’s the science behind this experiment?
