Upcoming event on mental health sponsored by Kent County Family Support Resource Center/ SECAC of Kent County, MD. See below for more information!

Whether you are a parent, teacher, grandparent, aunt or uncle, our children are often our greatest pride and joy. They are our future. We love them, raise them, teach them, laugh with them, play with them and nurse them back to health.

As protectors, we want to do everything we can to keep our little ones happy and healthy. But unfortunately, genetics, society and trauma all play a major role in the development of mental health conditions, and children are not exempt. Studies show that 7.7 million youth aged 6-17 experience a mental health disorder each year.

With that in mind, it’s important to play close attention to a child’s mental health. While abnormal behavior could just be normal aspects of childhood or a phase of growth or puberty — it could also be a mental health disorder.

Join The Family Support Resource Center and NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) on Wednesday November 16th, 5:30PM at the Kent County Middle School's Media Center to learn more about your student's mental health! We will also have a KCPS social worker and a guidance counselor on site to answer questions.

There is no more important time than now to focus on your child's mental health!

Register Today! https://forms.gle/TMauU38iC8EatcSJ7 (in person and virtual option available. In person option comes with childcare, food and drinks which starts at 5PM, presentation starts at 530PM)

Toddler Time is starting again with our partners Sultana Education Foundation! You won’t want to miss these weekly sessions!

Forget the holidays... ITS TODDLER TIME SEASON!!! Sultana's popular free public program for the little ones is back, starting November 11th at 10:30am. Toddler time lets children explore the natural world through stories, songs, games, crafts and interactions with wildlife. Adults must stay for the program and are encouraged to participate in activities. Visit www.sultanaeducation.org/toddler-time/ for a full schedule!

Toddler Time is funded in part by the PNC Foundation in support of PNC Grow Up Great®, an initiative to help prepare children from birth to age 5 for success in school and life.

For large groups and additional info, please Contact Jackie Doerr. [email protected]
