Overheard this morning during a student session… “I’m a reader!!” This student came to us at the start of summer struggling to decode 2 sounds. This morning he was able to read a short passage!! Amazing!!

Our campers had a blast at last week’s STEM camp building cardboard creations with moving parts! Thank you to our instructor Annie for putting together such a fun week!

My favorite way to help students with b/d reversals! It's important to make sure children learn how to form b's and d's correctly. Encourage your child to form a b by starting at the top of the line to make the stick (the bat), then make the ball. When making a d, have your child start by making a "c" (the doorknob), then the stick (the door). By starting each letter differently, children are less likely to confuse these two letters! When reading with your child, if you notice b/d confusion, cue your child by reminding them of the bat then the ball and doorknob then the door visual.

Yesterday's Bound for Success group learned about social norms and manners together! Our younger group worked together to play freeze dance, practiced giving compliments and they read The 1,2,3's of Manners story. Our older group played manners Bingo and practiced politely ordering at a restaurant.
