If you are looking for a free musical event to attend, consider the La Porte County Symphony concert Sunday evening! You will recognize some familiar faces performing with the group! Two of our private lessons teachers, Ms. Mossell (viola) and Ms. Kraupner (bass), will be performing, as well as our Liberty Orchestra director, Mrs. Christensen (violin)! We hope to see you there 😊

Congratulations to 6 of our Chesterton Orchestra students who were selected as winners of the Northwest Indiana Symphony Young People’s Competition as a result of their outstanding auditions! These students will be performing their memorized solo pieces on upcoming Northwest Indiana Symphony Concerts:
Liam Nieves - July 22 (Valparaiso)
Isaac Higgins - July 28 (Munster)
Claire Rogers and Grant Rogers - August 1 (Griffith)
Ellie Marshall - October 9 (Dyer)

Three cheers for our CHS students! Their hard work and talent has earned them a recognition only 15 other schools in the state can claim, the ISSMA TOTAL DEPARTMENT ALL-MUSIC AWARD!

The Chesterton High School Bands, Choirs, & Orchestras each competed in multiple events (marching, solos, jazz, large ensembles) to showcase a well-rounded music education. This also means at EVERY ISSMA competition the students participated in, they excelled! Congratulations!

Congratulations to the CHS Music Department on winning the ISSMA Total Department All-Music Award!

This award honors schools who offer a well-rounded music education, and have robust enough programs that students earn gold ratings in multiple events for band, choir, and orchestra. CHS was 1 of 16 schools in the State to reach this accomplishment. CHS earned Gold Ratings in all ISSMA (Indiana State Music Association) Events during the school year. This includes: Solo & Ensemble District, Solo & Ensemble State, Jazz, Organizational, and State Qualifiers. Congratulations to all CHS Music students!
