The HUB is officially CLOSED for Summer Break!

Have a safe, fun, and happy summer break! We will see you in September when the Duneland Early Learning HUB returns for the 2026–2027 school year. This year was filled with so much growth, love, friendship, learning, and FUN! Thank you for being part of our Birth to School program and making this year so special. See you around Chesterton!

The Duneland School Corporation will serve free summer meals Monday through Friday to all children in the Duneland School community beginning June 5, 2026 and ending on June 26, 2026. Closed June 19, 2026 to observe Juneteenth.

Liberty Elementary School, 50-1 W 900 North in Chesterton (enter Main Entrance)
Breakfast will be served from 7:30am - 8:00am
Lunch will be served from 11:45am - 12:15pm

Chesterton High School, 2125 S 11th Street in Chesterton (enter at Door #20)
Breakfast will be served from 7:00am - 7:30am
Lunch will be served from 11:25am - 11:45am

The Duneland School Corporation will also serve free summer meals Monday through Friday to all children in the Duneland School community at Chesterton High School only beginning July 6, 2026 and ending on July 24, 2026. Closed July 1-3, 2026.

Breakfast will be served from 7:00am - 7:30am
Lunch will be served from 11:25am - 11:45am

All children 18 and under are welcome to participate. Meals must be eaten on site (indoor seating provided). Elementary age children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Summer HUB Swim Hours – June & July

HUB Families: Join us for Summer Open Swim with the Duneland Family YMCA!

📅 Fridays Only: June 5 – July 31
⏰ Time: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Come enjoy swimming, movement, and summer fun with your family!

Important Open Swim Guidelines:
• Caregivers must remain in the pool with their child(ren) at all times.
• Personal life jackets must be Coast Guard approved.
• The YMCA provides 15 child life jackets on a first come, first served basis.
• Open Swim is limited to 20 swimmers per session.
• YMCA members will scan their membership upon entry.
• Non-members must complete a guest consent form at their first visit.

Flashback Friday: Journey to Kindergarten Week! 🎒✏️📚

What a special week it has been at Journey to Kindergarten! Our future kindergarteners spent the week building confidence, independence, friendships, and important classroom readiness skills through hands-on learning, play, movement, and exploration.

Throughout the week, children practiced:
✅ Classroom routines and transitions
✅ Safe hallway and line walking
✅ Independent arrival and sign-in skills
✅ Backpack, snack, and restroom procedures
✅ Cooperation, communication, and friendship skills

Our days were filled with:
📆 Morning/Afternoon calendar time
🎨 Interactive learning centers
📖 Read-aloud stories, crafts, and group activities
🍽️ Snack time and social play with friends

We loved watching our Future Class of 2039 grow in confidence while learning through developmentally appropriate, play-based experiences designed to help prepare them for kindergarten success. 💛

✌️ This was our final class of the school year. Peace out, Duneland! HUB classes are officially closed for the summer.

Thank you to all of our wonderful families for an amazing year of learning, growing, exploring, and connecting together at the HUB. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back for the 2026–2027 school year!

A huge THANK YOU to our wonderful PALS partners for joining us at the HUB and sharing your business, knowledge, and expertise with our birth-to-school-age community! We are so grateful for the local professionals who partner with us to support children and caregivers in our community.PALS (Play and Learn Session) is designed for children ages 0–5 and their caregivers, combining fun, interactive play with valuable learning opportunities from community experts. While caregivers participate in the session, children enjoy supervised play in our Multipurpose Room with a HUB teacher — a safe, engaging space for little ones to explore, create, and connect. PALS takes place a couple Fridays each month. Come learn, play, and build connections with other families while gaining helpful resources and information to support your growing child!

We hope to see our partners again during the 2026–2027 school year!

Thank you to all of our Duneland School families who came out to play, connect, and celebrate at our HUB Chalk the Walk events! It was wonderful seeing future kindergarteners exploring their new playgrounds, decorating sidewalks with chalk, and meeting new friends before the start of school. 💛

A special thank you to the staff members who came out to welcome and support families during these events. Your kindness and presence helped make these meet-ups extra special for our incoming students and parents.

Our Duneland community is strong, supportive, and full of caring people, and we are so excited to welcome the Future Class of 2039!
