On Tuesday, students in the Design Academy presented their projects at a New World’s Fair! They were asked to create a new country applying their knowledge of geography, government, culture, science, and human-environment interaction to create a realistic and functional nation. They did an amazing job!

Congratulations to our students who received the Glory of Missouri Award. They traveled to Jefferson City on Monday with 4 other Parkway Middle schools where they toured the Missouri State Capitol and received this prestigious award.

Kristen Hughes builds strong, trusting relationships that help students feel safe enough to work through difficult moments and return to learning with confidence. As a social worker, she takes time to understand each student’s experiences, emotional needs, and communication style so she can respond in a calm, thoughtful, and supportive way. When students feel overwhelmed or dysregulated, Kristen helps them identify their feelings and practice coping strategies to regain control and navigate challenges more independently. Students often seek her out because they know she will listen without judgment and guide them through problems with patience and respect. She also collaborates closely with families, medical providers, and school teams to coordinate support for students with complex needs, helping ensure plans remain clear, compassionate, and centered on student well-being.
