On January 28, 2014, Universite Notre Dam de Haiti reopened it's facility in Jacmel. The university, whose focus is on business management and nursing, was so damaged in the 2010 earthquake that the building was uninhabitable. The photo on the left was taken in October 2013 when I visited the school. Please read this short press release for more information. http://www.miyamotointernational.com/media/press-releases/quake-damaged-university-reopens-with-cutting-edge-seismic-technology/

In October, Insituform sponsored Knox ProCorps Inc's Annual Fundraising Clay Shoot. Knox ProCrops "seeks to provide Knoxville [TN] professionals a means to improve the health and welfare of impoverished communities in the U.S. and abroad by utilizing their talents and professional training." Currently, they are working with ASP on four septic tank sites in Brenton County, West Virginia and Breathitt, Kentucky, as well as a water project in Thomazeau, Haiti. We all are aware of the needs globally for clean water, but we often forget that there are places right here in the USA who need our help. So, thank you Knox ProCorps for your help at home and abroad.

At the invitation of Dr. Kit Miyamoto, I traveled to Port Au Prince in October to attend symposium on engineering improvements in Haiti. While I was there, colleagues from Miyamoto Global Disaster Relief Foundation took me to see some of the school buildings they have been working on. The goal is to improve and fortify these structure so that they may be safely used again for classrooms. The first few photos are of the Notre Dam de Haiti, a university in Jacmel; it reopened in January 2014. It was interesting to them apply our Fibrwrap product to strengthen the floors of this multilevel building.
The last two photos of Lycee de National City de Soleil, the only public school in Cite Soleil providing secondary education. This school has nearly 1500 children attend daily. Since the earthquake in January 2014, they have been holding classes in temporary rooms made of particle board with tin roofs. As you can imagine, these areas are stifling hot and don't provide adequate shelter from storms. Dr. Miyamoto, his agency, and local supporters have started work on LNCS, but is still working to raise about $150,000 more so that they may meet their goal of opening classrooms for September 2014.
