Bellwood is a Title I school located in Chesterfield County, Virginia. Our staff lives by the belief “Every Child; Every Chance; Every Day,” which encompasses our commitment to providing an engaging and relevant education that prepares every student to adapt and thrive in a rapidly changing world.
We are dedicated to welcoming each new student into the “Bellwood Family,” as a high transiency rate (41%) impacts our ability to maintain the meaningful relationships we strive to build. Despite the challenges that each child faces, attendance rates remain high. Bellwood provides a high performing, nurturing learning environment for every child.
Community in Schools- Our CIS program spearheads collaboration with local businesses, school and county agencies such as Chesterfield Mental Health and Virginia STAR in order to provide programming that ensures student success. CIS leverages mentors and other community resources to support students and families to ensure sustainable academic success while utilizing evaluative data to constantly improve and drive programming. Our program provides over $500,000 annually in contributions and in-kind support for the Bellwood Community.
Midlothian YMCA-provides access to after-school care, tutoring, Bright Beginnings and holiday assistance.
Capital One- provides transportation for programming, financial fluency lessons, school supplies and volunteer assistance.
Chesterfield County Police Department- works closely with our student population in various ways to build a positive relationship with the upcoming generation.
DSCR (Defense Supply Center, Richmond)-provides holiday assistance, an endless supply of mentors and school supplies.
Chesterfield County Fire Department- works closely with our student population in various ways to build a positive relationship with the upcoming generation.
RJ Smith- provides monetary support for updating circulation titles in our library, providing new furniture in our library and help provide us with a safe playground environment for our community.
Faith Communities-Several local churches provide parents with ESL instruction in the evening and provide students with resources and school supplies.
