🏀 PCMS INTRAMURAL BASKETBALL STARTS MONDAY!

Get ready, Colts! PCMS Intramural Basketball kicks off this coming Monday immediately after school!

Our Colts have brought home 7 trophies over the last couple of years! 🏆 Come be part of the fun and help keep that tradition going!

🏀 Here’s what you need to know:

🏀3 days a week, immediately after school
🏀Boys: A separate team for each grade level
🏀Girls: One girls-only team combining all grade levels (NOT co-ed!)
🏀Cost: FREE!

Please note: This is separate from the PCMS basketball team that held tryouts this week. Intramural basketball is a fun, inclusive opportunity for students to enjoy the game, develop their basketball skills, stay active, and make new friends!

📝 How to register: Students must register themselves on the school website under Intramurals. Parents cannot register on their behalf, so please have your student complete the registration.

Questions? Have your student reach out to Mr. Keim for more information.

Let's get out there, have fun, and keep bringing home those trophies! Go Colts! 🐎🏀

A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who helped make our 7th Grade Social a success!

We appreciate all of our amazing parent volunteers, everyone who donated snacks and drinks, those who helped decorate, donated games, and volunteered at the craft tables. Your time, generosity, and support helped create a fun and memorable experience for our students, and a great time was had by all!

A special thank-you to Kate Walls, who chaired our 7th Grade Social Committee and helped bring this event together for our students. We appreciate your time, dedication, and hard work!

We also want to thank our PCMS staff and administration for helping make this event possible for our kids. We are grateful to have such a supportive school community that comes together to create these special memories for our students.

It takes a village, and we are so thankful for ours!

Why does volunteering matter?

When parents and families get involved at school, it sends a powerful message to students that their education matters. Research has linked family involvement with stronger school engagement, improved social skills, fewer behavior problems, and positive academic outcomes. One recent national study of more than 59,000 children ages 6–17 found that children whose parents reported volunteering had:

19% lower odds of chronic absenteeism
42% lower odds of repeating a grade
52% higher odds of caring about school
58% higher odds of completing homework

These findings show an encouraging association, not a guarantee that volunteering alone causes these outcomes. But they reinforce how meaningful family involvement can be in a child's educational experience.

You don't have to volunteer every week or give up an entire day to make a difference. Even an hour of your time helps create a stronger school community for all our students.

An Important Reminder

Our school events are made possible by parent and family volunteers. We want to continue offering fun, meaningful experiences and opportunities for our students, but we cannot continue to host these events going forward without parent involvement.

Let's show our Colts what it means to support their school! Thank you for giving your time and helping make PCMS a great place for our kids.

What kind of proposal is Proposition P?

Proposition P is an operating tax levy, not a bond issue for construction.

If approved, it would provide ongoing funding for the day-to-day operation of Parkway schools, including teachers and staff, student programs and services, school safety, classroom resources, and long-term financial stability.

Be an informed voter. Learn more at www.parkwayschools.net/Prop-P.
