Hispanic Heritage Month at The Laurel School gives us an opportunity to highlight and celebrate. This was a week filled with culture, leaders, people, traditions, and yes, food!

Our students learned the names behind the history, hung papel picado, and cooked together: peeling garlic, chopping peppers, pressing and frying tostones, and serving a table set for everyone.

Little Hawks. BIG fair day! 🎡💚💙

Today, the State Fair of Virginia became our classroom! From tractors and pig races, pumpkins, chickens to hands-on exhibits and of course the food, our Hawks had plenty to explore.

There’s something special about discovering the world together. Room to wonder, time to explore, and friends to share it with. That’s learning at The Laurel School.

Even the Chesterfield Sheriffs joined in for a little co****le! But the best part? Meeting parents who stopped by our table and shared what they’re looking for in a school.

Our first field trip is officially in the books!

At The Laurel School, we believe learning doesn’t have to be rushed or confined to a classroom. Sometimes it looks like watching planes take off, getting an unexpected peek inside one, sharing lunch together, and making time for a little rainy-day recess.

Our first field trip gave students the opportunity to slow down, observe, ask questions, explore, and simply enjoy experiencing something new together.

It was a beautiful example of what unhurried learning can look like; following curiosity, embracing unexpected opportunities, and making space for childhood along the way.

A rainy day, a lot of excited students, and a first field trip we won’t soon forget.
