Communities In Schools of Chesterfield is running the CIS Express in Hampton Park for the third year. This free holiday light tour is a chance to celebrate while supporting Chesterfield students. Using an app on your phone, you can drive the route any night Dec. 10-23 and see fabulously decorated homes while listening to audio about CIS. There is a live event 5:30-8:30 p.m. Dec. 16 with hot cocoa, cookies, Santa and more at Woodlake United Methodist Church. Ages 12+ but under 18 must be accompanied by an adult registered as well.
This course will cover chords, basic strumming, picking techniques and alternative styles through a variety of songs. Bring your guitar and portable music stand to the first class.

Details: This comprehensive program prepares students to work as pharmacy technicians in retail or other pharmacy settings and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board exam. Content includes pharmacy medical terminology, history of pharmacy practice in multiple environments, pharmacy calculations and measurements, reading and interpreting prescriptions and defining drugs by generic and brand names.

CodeBeats:
The 6-week online boot camp using Hip Hop and other musical beats to help teach Python computer coding starts on Tuesday, September 20 at 7 p.m.
CodeBeats is a fun, no-risk way for adult learners to see what computer coding is all about and make it accessible to them. We have been able to get some support for this initiative from VCU and have the opportunity to grow it even more, provided we have the interest and participants.

Class starts Thursday Aug 25th
This course prepares students for entry-level positions in dental assisting. Students will learn to perform the work of an assistant in a modern practice, functioning within the guidelines and regulations in the Dental Practice Act of Virginia. It is each student's responsibility to obtain the necessary certificates in CPR and radiation safety required by the Virginia Board of Dentistry. After successfully completing this course, students qualify to take the certifying exam. Testing fee not included. High school diploma or equivalency required. Students must furnish safety glasses.

Welding is a high-tech industry that can take you places all over the world. From ladders to aircraft carriers, from NASCAR to national defense, and from the laboratory to sales and repair, the varied welding industry impacts virtually every industry. Technology is creating more uses for welding in the workplace. For example, new ways are being developed to bond dissimilar materials and non- metallic materials, such as plastics, composites, and new alloys. This program offers students the core curriculum necessary for success in their trade or craft as well as a comprehensive introduction to the welding craft. The primary content covers topics such as basic safety, communication skills and construction drawings, providing trainees the basic skills needed to continue education in the welding craft. Certification in the American Welding society's (AWS) Certified Welder Certification D1.1 and D17.1 up to 4 positions will be the focus of this class.
Certification testing fee not included. High school diploma or equivalency required. Students will be responsible for purchasing their own welding jacket, helmet and gloves.
