Hello Richmond Residents!

Just wanted to give you a heads up that Richmond might experience some thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, most likely from 5 to 10 p.m. Unfortunately, there's a chance of damaging winds and hail with the possibility of tornados, too.

To make sure you're safe, please seek shelter in interior rooms of sturdy buildings if you encounter strong winds or hail.

Here are some tips to prepare for the winds:

• Bring any loose, lightweight objects, like patio furniture and garbage cans, indoors. For objects that can't be brought inside, anchor them down.

• Charge your electronic devices in case of power outages.

• If you need help, check out the attached graphic for getting help in Richmond.

• Make sure you're signed up to receive emergency alerts from the City of Richmond through Code Red. You can sign up here: https://www.rva.gov/emergency-management/codered

And for hail, please take these steps:

• Park your vehicles in garages or under other shelters to protect them from damage.

• Bring indoors any other items that could be damaged.

Con clases en español impartidas por profesores nativos, es único para nuestras familias latinas. Puedes estudiar Matemáticas, Artes del Lenguaje, Estudios Sociales y Ciencias Naturales. Los semestres de otoño y primavera duran 15 semanas, con clases en la mañana y en la tarde. Los estudiantes toman una materia por semestre y reciben apoyo a lo largo de este curso exigente.

The GED (General Education Diploma) Program at Sacred Heart Center is equivalent to a US high school diploma. Taught in Spanish by native-speaking teachers, it's unique for our Latino families. Students can study Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, and Natural Sciences in Spanish. Fall and Spring semesters last 15 weeks, with morning and evening classes. Students take one subject per semester and receive support throughout the demanding course.
