We are proud to highlight our outstanding senior design team, Kayleigh Armstrong, Yamen Jlilati, Akem Kpuyuf, and Victoria Rebelo, from Widener Biomedical Engineering 👏. Working with Dr. Tiari, their project, “Design and Prototype of a Smart Prosthetic Sleeve for Temperature Control for Lower Limb Amputees,” focuses on improving comfort and quality of life by addressing thermal regulation challenges commonly experienced by prosthetic users.

With support from ASME Philadelphia Section, they presented at the annual student project competition and took home:

🏆 Best Oral Presentation

Our senior BME students, Kayleigh Armstrong, Yamen Jlilati, and Victoria Rebelo, attended the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Middle-Atlantic Conference at the University of Delaware on Saturday, March 28, 2026. 👏

The team presented their senior design project, “Designing and Prototyping a Smart Prosthetic Sleeve for Temperature Control,” developed under the supervision of Dr. Saeed Tiari. Their work focuses on improving comfort and usability for prosthetic users through innovative thermal management solutions.

Congratulations to the team on this accomplishment, we are proud of you!✨

Last Friday, Widener BME faculty, students, and staff visited CQ Medical in Avondale, PA. It was a great opportunity to learn about their patient positioning and immobilization technology for radiation therapy and hear from Widener alumni about how these products are designed and manufactured.
