๏ฟฝ NEW EPISODE ALERT | THE REALL ACADEMY โ EPISODE 266
๏ฟฝ FUTURE READY OR FALLING BEHIND? โ PART II
From AI Consumers to AI Creators
What if the biggest mistake we make with AI in education isn't allowing students to use itโbut allowing them to use it without THINKING?
Last week, we unpacked what PISA 2025 is telling us about the future of education.
This week, we're moving from the WHY to the HOW.
Because AI is already in our students' hands.
So the question is no longer simply:
๏ฟฝ โShould students use AI?โ
The better question is:
๏ฟฝ โHow do we teach students to use AI in ways that make them THINK moreโnot less?โ
In Episode 266 of The REALL Academy, the Resilience DoctHers explore how educators can move students through a powerful progression:
CONSUMER ๏ฟฝ CRITIC ๏ฟฝ CREATOR
A CONSUMER asks AI:
"Give me the answer."
A CRITIC asks:
"Is this accurate? What's missing? What's the evidence? Can I verify it?"
A CREATOR asks:
"How can I use this tool, my knowledge, and my own thinking to create something new?"
And we're highlighting a teacher from a rural South Carolina high school who is already moving in this direction.
Instead of simply telling students whether AI is good or bad, her โAI: Fight, Flight, or Fawn?โ lesson asks students to research the advantages and disadvantages of AI, form their own position, evaluate an AI-generated essay against a rubric, refine the work, and reflect on how their thinking changed. Opening Week, AI
The student isn't simply asking AI for an answer.
The student has to evaluate the AI.
๏ฟฝ That's the shift.
In Episode 266, we're giving educators practical ways to make it happen:
๏ฟฝ Require human thinking before AI
๏ฟฝ Have students critique AI-generated responses
๏ฟฝ Make students verify claims and sources
๏ฟฝ Let students improve weak AI outputs
๏ฟฝ Teach prompting as questioning and problem-solving
๏ฟฝ Use AI in authentic design challenges
๏ฟฝ Require students to explain what they contributed
๏ฟฝ Use AI to createโnot simply complete
๏ฟฝ Preserve productive struggle
And we're asking teachers one question that could change how we design assignments:
โWHERE IS THE THINKING?โ
If AI can write the thesis, find the evidence, construct the argument, write the conclusion, and correct the mistakes...
What did the student actually learn to do?
Maybe the answer isn't banning AI.
Maybe it's designing better learning.

And if your school or district is thinking about the future of learning, remember that technology is only part of the equation. People still matter.
Through KnowWe and The WE Experience, we help schools, districts, leadership teams, and organizations understand their people, strengthen communication, and work better together.
Know yourself. Know your people. Work better together.

โDon't prepare students to simply consume what AI creates. Teach them to question it, critique it, improve it and use it to create something that didn't exist before. AI should expand human thinkingโnot replace it.โ โ The Resilience DoctHers
