22 Brightpoint students spent two days at our Midlothian Campus tackling real data challenges for to Men Mentoring Virginia in partnership with Visions during the recent AI for Good Hackathon. From automating workflows to designing scalable AI tools, our students proved how classroom skills translate into real-world solutions.

When Dustin Bell was 14, he watched his father, Les, work in a machine shop.

Today, they’re teaching the trade together at Brightpoint.

In recognition of National Manufacturing Day (MFG Day), we’re taking a closer look at precision machining, a field behind more of our everyday lives than most of us realize. From cars and aircraft to medical devices and countless everyday products, skilled machinists help make modern life possible.

Are you interested in starting a career in the rapidly-growing hospitality industry? Or, are you already working in the field and want to advance to a manager or supervisor position?

Then check out Brightpoint’s new hospitality management program! The program’s first classes kick off October 19, and there’s still time to sign up!

Brightpoint collaborated closely with industry experts to build this new program, so students can learn the skills and knowledge needed to work as supervisors or managers in a wide range of settings, such as large and boutique hotels, resorts, conference centers, event venues and other tourism-driven businesses.

Other benefits of the program? It can be completed in less than a year, and it includes structured internships to help students gain extensive hands-on experience. Also, Brightpoint’s hospitality management career studies certificate is now a G3-approve program, which means students who meet eligibility requirements may receive assistance with tuition and book costs.

Crystal Cempron refuses to be defined by what’s happened in her life. Instead, she chooses to forge her own path and focus on what she wants to becomes. So, when the mother of two felt a continued calling to serve others, she decided to make a change and go in a new direction. She enrolled at Brightpoint and began working toward a degree in business administration with a goal of opening a facility for at-risk youth.

Balancing school with raising two daughters is demanding. But thanks to her determination and the supportive community she says she’s found at Brightpoint, Crystal is excelling in and out of the classroom. She is actively involved in Brightpoint’s College Attainment for Parent Students (CAPS) program, is currently serving as the vice president of service for Phi Theta Kappa’s Tau Rho (PTK) Chapter, and is a member of the Honor & Distinction: Black Student Alliance.

Through CAPS, Crystal had the opportunity to advocate for HB427, legislation that allows student parents to self-identify and helps bring greater visibility to the unique challenges and needs of student-parent populations across Virginia. She attended the 2026 PTK Catalyst Conference, which she said allowed her to connect with student leaders from across the country while developing her understanding of leadership, service, and community impact. Recently, she was selected to represent Brightpoint as a delegate for the 2026 Virginia Government Simulation, where she will have the chance to collaborate with fellow students from across the Commonwealth in developing and proposing legislation.

“These experiences have been incredibly meaningful to me because they reflect the doors Brightpoint has helped open and the support I have received along the way,” says Crystal.
